Junior Klezmer Orchestra welcomes students of all backgrounds and skill levels to learn the art of klezmer music under the leadership of musicians from the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band. Instrumentalists and vocalists in grades 5 through 12 learn klezmer and Yiddish music in order to carry on the music of their Eastern European Jewish cultural heritage. This year, they celebrated the Orchestra’s 30th anniversary. Many JKO Alumni have gone on to become professional musicians of note.
